How We Work
At the Gate we produce theatre and performance that actively interrogates who we are and how we live, as a platform for people whose voices might not otherwise be heard and a space to promote equality of opportunity and social change. We exclusively tell stories from beyond our borders, celebrating international artists and championing the multiplicity of identities held within our artists and audiences.
Our Programming
Our programming is curated by the Gate’s senior artistic team comprising our Creative Associate, Senior Producer and Executive Director. As a small team, we currently produce one production per year to ensure that we have the time and resource to make each show of the highest possible calibre and with the best possible creative team.
The team read scripts, attend sharings and meet with artists throughout the year and try to select shows that speak directly to urgent issues of the world today.
Gateways
Through our Gateways programme we offer artist development opportunities and ways for our audiences to connect with theatremaking year-round, through readings, events masterclasses and artist surgeries.
