Melina Namdar

Melina is a working class British Iranian writer and director from West London. She has been awarded a 2022 The National Theatre/Peter Shaffer Commission with Tamasha Theatre. Melina’s collaborative approach aims to create truthful and thought-provoking pieces. She is passionate about showcasing underrepresented individuals and stories which are seldom seen on our stage and screens. Directing credits include VITAMIN D UK TOUR (Lawrence Batley Theatre, Octagon Bolton, Rosemary Branch Theatre, The Edge Manchester), ALL THE HAPPY THINGS (Theatre 503), PASSION FRUIT (New Diorama), and as Assistant Director BAGHDADDY (Royal Court), ORFEUS: A HOUSE MUSIC OPERA (Young Vic), CTRL ALT DELETE (Lyric Hammersmith). For her writing Melina has been longlisted for the BBC Script Room 2021 and The Women’s Prize In Playwriting.
